La Trobe College Australia leads the way at UECA Assessment Symposium 2024
On Saturday, August 31, University English Centres of Australia (UECA) held its annual Assessment Symposium at Monash College, with the theme of “Language Assessment Design in the Age of Generative AI.”
The symposium was an excellent opportunity for professionals in the English language assessment field to come together to share, learn, and network around the theme, furthering thought-provoking knowledge, insight, and discussion about the future of English language assessment.
Ramesh Presser, from La Trobe College Australia, presented his talk “Addressing the Rise of AI and its Impacts on Academic Integrity.” He shared proactive approaches to the rise and use of AI applications like ChatGPT by ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) students, providing practical solutions to address and educate students on acceptable use, academic integrity, and critical engagement with GenAI platforms.
Ramesh won the “first-time presenter” award and will present his talk at PD Fest Sydney, which will be held at Macquarie University College later this year.
