Griffith College launches new campus in Brisbane’s CBD
Colleagues from Griffith College, Griffith University, Navitas and the broader Brisbane higher education sector gathered last night to celebrate the launch of the new Griffith College and Griffith English Language Institute campus in Brisbane’s CBD.
The celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by our special guests Griffith University Vice Chancellor Professor Carolyn Evans and Navitas CEO Scott Jones, with a Welcome to Country delivered by Turrbal Elder, Songwoman Maroochy. Other guests included Griffith University Provost, Professor Liz Burd, VP Global Professor Sarah Todd, Chair of the Board for seven Navitas Australasian colleges, Professor Sally Kift, and Chair of the Griffith College Academic Board, Professor Helen Huntly. Dr. CJ Wang, Griffith College Program Convenor and alumnus of both Griffith College and Griffith University, served as the evening’s MC.
Located in a restored 117-year-old building on Ann Street, the new campus boasts bright, inspiring spaces and can accommodate over 1000 students. Classes have officially commenced for a new trimester, with students already commenting on the convenient location of the campus, its vibrant community atmosphere and modern amenities.
Navitas CEO Scott Jones said the campus “provides an ideal teaching and learning space for our Griffith College students and staff as we prepare to transition into Griffith University’s exciting new city campus in the historic Treasury Building in 2027.”
The opening of the new campus represents a continued bright future for Griffith University and Griffith College as their long-standing partnership, established nearly 30 years ago, was recently renewed until 2034.
