Charles Sturt University to open Melbourne campus with Navitas
Charles Sturt University will open a new campus – in Melbourne in 2025 – in partnership with global education company Navitas.
Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in IT, business and accounting will be offered from 2025.
It’s intended that Charles Sturt University Melbourne will host both international and domestic students, with students to be offered the opportunity to undertake a regional experience as part of their degree.
Charles Sturt University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renée Leon, said students at Charles Sturt University Melbourne will enjoy the same outstanding experience as students at Charles Sturt’s regional campuses, including access to online learning resources and other services as required.
“Charles Sturt students studying in our Melbourne campus will benefit from the same sector-leading outcomes our regional students enjoy, including nation-leading graduate employment rates and starting salaries.
“We are very carefully seeking to re-build international student load, with added emphasis on our regional campuses and rejuvenation of our capital city presence.
“We hope our students and staff are pleased with our choice of Bourke Street in the CBD as the campus location. This area boasts excellent transport linkages, enabling students to easily access and navigate the city for their study day. This convenient location will enhance the overall student experience and foster a sense of community within our campus.”
Professor Leon said Navitas – with more than 5,000 staff, 60,000 current students and 92 colleges and campuses globally – was the ideal partner to ensure the campus’s success.
Navitas Group CEO Scott Jones said the combination of Charles Sturt’s reputation for high-quality education and student services, and Navitas’ strong history of good governance and compliance, had proved a successful alliance in Sydney.
He said he was delighted to see the University’s strategic partnership with Navitas’ Careers & Industry division expand into the Melbourne market.
“Not only do our two proud Australian organisations share the common purpose of transforming lives through education, we also share the same values, and recognise our important role in empowering people with the ability and belief to positively impact their own world and the world around them.”
Charles Sturt University Sydney, based in North Sydney, has received a huge volume of interest from students, and Melbourne is also expected to be an attractive option.
“Melbourne is a city world renowned for its liveability, culture, and diversity, and is the headquarters for many national and international companies and government agencies,” Mr Jones said.
“We look forward to welcoming students to Charles Sturt University Melbourne, and providing them, and the wider community, with the opportunity to create positive outcomes for the future.”
The new Melbourne campus will be conveniently located in a modern teaching and learning space, in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD in Bourke Street.
