Curtin College celebrated NAIDOC Week
Curtin College was proud to hold enriching NAIDOC Celebrations on campus, marked by a series of meaningful and culturally significant events. The celebration provided a wonderful opportunity to honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In Week 1, the college began its celebration with a welcoming ceremony featuring traditional Aboriginal dances, captivating performances, a sacred smoking ceremony, and an engaging art session. Students and staff also enjoyed a delicious lunch and tried some Aboriginal food.
Weeks 2 and 3 continued with powerful storytelling sessions, focusing on the Stolen Generations, healing, hope, knowledge, and empowerment. This was followed by a crafting session where participants created story-based artworks, fostering a deeper understanding and connection to shared narratives.
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It highlights the importance of community, storytelling, and cultural heritage while promoting unity and respect.
