Curtin College welcomes new students at Trimester 1 Orientation

The beginning of a new academic journey is always an exciting time at Curtin College, and ensuring students feel supported from day one is a top priority. The recent Trimester 1 Orientation Day provided new students a comprehensive introduction to college life, academic resources, and the welcoming Curtin community.

The event began with an official welcome from Quentin Derrick, Curtin College Director and Principal, Julie Robertson, Academic Director, and Neville Hiscox, Curtin University’s Chief Student Services Officer. Their inspiring addresses encouraged students to embrace new opportunities, remain engaged, and make the most of their experience at Curtin College. Student Learning Advisor Mojtaba Sanati and Student Counsellor Rubie Kauta also provided valuable insights into academic support services and student wellbeing.

Throughout the day, students attended program-specific sessions tailored to their faculties, including Health Sciences, Commerce, Arts and Creative Industries, Built Environment, Engineering, and IT. These sessions offered key information on what to expect in their studies and how to succeed.

Beyond academics, Orientation Day provided an excellent opportunity for students to connect with peers, form friendships, and expand their networks. Many participated in IT support and Digital Onboarding sessions, ensuring they were well-prepared to navigate their coursework confidently. The day concluded with a campus tour, allowing students to familiarise themselves with their new learning environment.

Curtin College extends its appreciation to all those who contributed to making Orientation Day a success. With strong support and guidance, students are well-positioned to thrive, grow, and achieve their academic goals.
