Tony Cullen visits NET partner Classroom of Hope in Lombok

Earlier this month, Tony Cullen, Executive General Manager, Global Sales & Marketing had the chance to visit a NET-supported school in Lombok with NET partner, Classroom of Hope

Classroom of Hope is a not-for-profit organisation supported by the Navitas Education Trust (the NET). The Navitas Education Trust funds education projects to help people gain better access to education, creating positive far-reaching impact for many communities around the world. For the last 11 years, we have partnered with forward-thinking and sustainability-oriented organisations bringing education to disadvantaged communities around the world.

Classroom of Hope was our very first NET partner, and we have had the wonderful opportunity to support them on several projects over the past decade. NET support has helped deliver programs in Indonesia, Cambodia, and beyond, since 2013.

Earlier this month, Tony Cullen, Executive General Manager, Global Engagement, GS&M, had the opportunity to visit a NET-supported school in Lombok with Classroom of Hope CEO, Tanya Armstrong.

Tanya showed Tony around Rempek 1 Primary School where he was able to meet staff and students and see the newly built classrooms. The new earthquake-resistant classrooms are built from eco-bricks made from recycled plastics on the island itself, an innovative solution to both plastic waste and the need for more safe and sustainable school buildings. Students learned about the importance of sustainability and the impact of plastics as part of the new education program in environmental responsibility and waste management. They then visited Al Fatih Primary and Junior High School, which NET funding supported with the most recent partnership between Navitas and Classroom of Hope.

Tony Cullen said “After supporting Classroom of Hope for over 10 years, I had the pleasure of being able to visit two schools who are part of the Classroom of Hope network this month on behalf of Navitas. I was very impressed by the quality of the classrooms but more so by the smiling faces of the students studying in the facilities. It was also fantastic to hear the feedback from the principals of the schools and the positive impact on the local communities.”

Thank you to Tanya and the Classroom of Hope community for your warm hospitality, and for giving our team a wonderful opportunity to see first-hand what an impact our NET partners make.
