UCIC and CCEL retained Category 1 status with NZQA
UC International College (UCIC) and Christchurch College of English Limited (CCEL) are pleased to announce that they have recently successfully retained their Category 1 status with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). This significant achievement reflects both colleges’ commitment to academic excellence and the highest standards of education.
The four-year performance quality review determined that NZQA is ‘Highly Confident’ both in ‘Educational Performance’ and ‘Self-Assessment’ at UCIC and CCEL.
The Category 1 status is the highest possible rating awarded by NZQA, demonstrating CCEL and UCIC’s ongoing dedication to providing quality education and a supportive learning environment for its students. This recognition affirms both colleges’ position as leading institutions within New Zealand, contributing to the nation’s strong reputation for outstanding tertiary education.
The NZQA assessment process evaluates various aspects of an institution, including its governance, management, student support, educational performance, stakeholder outcomes and self-assessment capability. UCIC and CCEL’s retention of Category 1 status underscores their continued compliance with rigorous standards and their ability to consistently meet or exceed the expectations set by NZQA.
Julia Innocente-Jones, College Director and Principal says the findings of the review confirmed that the two Colleges’ student-centric approach, combined with a robust focus on relevancy and continuous improvement, is a winning formula that is delivering excellent learning experiences.
